1 Apr 2023 – The Garbage of Eden is No April Fool
Wed: SIN Changi Airport – where many have been, but probably few(including myself, as I was living in Norway then!) can remember the 1970s land reclamation. Today it is voted the top airport in the world by Skytrax, once again reclaiming the No.1-spot- pix downloaded.
1st SIN airport was KallangAirport where I remember flying out from SIN to then Malaya in 1959 to welcome 1st nephew LAM JenMun born in KotoBahru – pix credit to my father. https://amylamsg.com/2015/03/13/former-kallang-airport/
2nd SIN airport was PayaLaberAirport(pix downloaded) in 1965 to London/UK. https://amylamsg.com/2021/05/27/nostalgic-sin/
Thu: this is still on my list to visit knowing that I will not see what can and will be built on PulauSemakau, known as The Garbage of Eden 8k SW off SINmainland. This landfill is no dump, but a manmade island that resembles a nature preserve, despite the 9.8 million tons of incinerated waste lying just a foot under the parklike surface – pix downloaded. https://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/16/science/16landfill.html
Amazing what one can do with thrash – https://www.straitstimes.com/life/home-design/singapore-s-first-competition-for-turning-trash-into-works-of-art
A good productive day – got to finally taste the BakChorMee from TaiWah@CrawfordLn. Despite that there were only 4ppl ahead of me, had to still wait ~10mins(every bowl is individually made as you order) and there were at least 10ppl behind me! Yummy, but not worth the wait.
Shared a table with a young charming couple Maria&Klaus from Austria. Refreshing to hear how positively adventurous they are exploring&travelling to this part of the world for the first time and being the only non-local here, am impressed how they managed to find this place.
Shopping@ArabSt, success at getting some suitable material despite having to pay S$35per meter! Continued to Diaso&Spotlight@PlazaSIN for sewing accessories and ended with a well-deserved tea-break@MujiCafes LemonYuzaTart – slightly too sweet for me. Pleased with getting most with what I needed spending a total of S$120 for today including drinks&food. Running around on my feet for most of the day did give me abit of a headache, but thank goodness it was short-lived.
Fri: Happy 86Bday sis Jo on this last Mar-day.
31Mar2023: WorldOmeter of COVID-19 total deaths are as follow:
SC/USA/pop ~5+mil in an area of ~82, 932km² – 19,684
Norway/pop ~5.3+mil in an area of ~365,268km² – 5,213
Sat: hello Apr, a walk(~6k) when most are asleep and the best time to wander around without anyone to annoying me with April Fool’s jokes or pranks! LOL…
No April Fools here as the weather forecasts warmer days ahead. Looking much forward to being with my flock in USA&Norway to enjoy the flowers+little things on the warmer days ahead.
Tkx Estella for this bottle of CorzoSilverTequila – looking forward to tasting it, but need to finish off the previous bottle with some Tex-Mex fast-foods from Guzman y Gomez bought&brought to CC to share.
Happy 5Anniversary to Hannah&Heiko – only they could pull off a wedding on 1Apr. If I tried anything like this, no one will turn up as no one will ever believe that I will get married again – hahaha!
1Apr2018: Congratulations to Hannah&Heiko. Wishing these lovely young ppl the very best and a safe&happy honeymoon when they start their cycle trip from Germany to SIN!
Thank you for a beautiful&blissful reception@BlissRestaurantChengSanCC/AMK. The sky opened up when I left and the shaded walkway to the MRT is certainly appreciated!
