Pete’s Place/Grand Hyatt

28 Jun 2026 – GeminiNorawitThiticharoenrak นรวิชญ์ ฐิติเจริญรักษ์

Thu: shopping@CK,Chinatown/basement where there is usually a good underwear-selection, surprise to discover that this area is now shared with ShengSiongSuperMarket – no worries when both sections serve their purpose for me today.

LimCheeGuan林志源/1938 is well-known SIN brand for its Bak-Kwa(BBQ pork jerky) is a one of the favourites snacks for many including  myself. Popular during the CNY and any festivities but be prepared to be in ~2+hrs lines during the CNY-season. Also a perfect gift for ppl who has everything. https://www.limcheeguan.sg/

Had one of the most unconfortable bus-rides and wrote to SBS before someone gets hurt – Bus#961 SG5489D Thu25Jun2026 ~16.40hrs travelling from NewBridgeRd-BukitMerah. The driver was not diving safely, jerking at every stop and despite sitting down had to hold on for every stop. Impressed with their prompt reply to discover that Bus#961 falls under the purview of SMRT and not SBS – mail has now been forwarded. Well, learnt something new!

Since in ScottsRd, decided to pick up my favourite CheeseCake@Queic.

The cheesecake was smooth and lush, with the personality of a warm and well-to-do uncle who knows a hundred dirty jokes and will die of sexual exertions in the arms of his mistress – Don DeLillo

Thank goodness the lines there were not where I was heading – was told that there was some Thai celebrity@Bang&Olufsen where none of the ppl in line could tell me the name of this celebrity. Google later to learn about the opening of this Bang&Olufen, and I thought this store has been there but was later told that it was the corner at the hotel. GeminiNorawitThiticharoenrak นรวิชญ์ ฐิติเจริญรักษ์ and its no wonder no one could tell me that name – hahaha

Appreciations with tkx for pre-dinner champagne and for dinner@Pete’sPlace/GrandHyatt with bits of old-table-tops+chair-legs interestingly framed on the wall in the private-room bringing back memories from 1980s first visit.

NancyW’s comment Wow this place is still around, minus the red-checkered table cloth, my favorite Italian and my reply was that I, too was also amazed that it is still around, no red-checkered table cloth but red-checkered cloth napkins – decent food but not as it used to be, or perhaps the taste-buds have changed with age!

Do not be deceived by the looks but their Tiramisu is so far one of the best tasted here in SIN and will certainly go back there just for that. https://www.singapore.grand.hyattrestaurants.com/petes-place

Fri: tkx Garry for visit and for being such a spot to lunch@MT-Market, peaceful despite the heat&humidity+constructions here unlike the kind of action with the dispute between a personal mobility aid (PMA) user and an elderly woman at a Serangoon coffee shop escalated into a physical fight after one allegedly accused the other of sleeping with other men – honestly&seriously is this for real?!? Sat: undrer meg på hva jeg får å se(I wonder what I’ll get to see) with Kirsten@Melbystølen/Norway 13yrs ago today and the last time there! Thank you for fond memories and appreciations for crossing my path in this life’s journey – may she RIP.

Sun: tkx for visit Calvin and Helen and welcome back to local foods and to the tropical heat&humidity. Appreciations for their shares with their adventures in Japan and Italy, living vicariously thru’ them now that the galavanting-globetrotting days are limited… pix credits to Helen.

Tkx to Glady&Shawn for this unusual SundayDinner@Rochalie – burgers from OneFattenedCalfBurgers, first time tasting this and first time having a burger@Rochalie – early 4Jul-celebrations. Yummy as it is, could only eat half and packed the other half to enjoy for tomorrow, Kai liked the fries better – hahaha!  https://www.onefattenedcalf.com/

The best burgers are simple, juicy, and messy – Bobby Flay
