Mon: the word Biryani बिरयानी/Hindi, بریانی /Urdu is derived from biryan or beriyan بریان/Persian, =to fry or roast, probably to be related to भृज्जति /Sanskrit bhṛjjati with the same meaning. The Persian phrase birinj biryan (with Persian: برنج birinj=rice), meaning fried rice. So PersianFriedRice is what Biryani is about – hahaha! Tkx to Adeline&Lee for this authentic yummy Biryani, slightly on the spicy-side for my age&taste but excellent when combined with the yogurt neutralizing the spicyness.
