Thu: what a coincidence to bump into DavidY@MarinaBayInterchangeMRT and it was meant to be that we could arrange a suitable meeting date for the family to meet when #6 arrives.
Appreciations to KK for delicious dinner @BondingKitchenRestaurant/OrchardGateway – modern take on PeranakanCooking. Last time here was Jan2024 with PeggyP also tlx to KK.
Foods this time round same as last but forgot to document then – pix downloaded are better than none! Drinks&Appetizer: BungaTelangLemongrass tastefully presented and not too sweet. KuehPieTee – JulienneTurnips braised with Mushroom,PorkBelly,PrawnsStock garnished with ChilliCuka,PorkLard,Prawn,QuailEgg – and it’s do it yourself to make sure that the shell remains as fresh&crispy as possible.
Mains: BabiPongTeh – stewed pork belly with Cinnamon,Soybean,StarAnise
ChickenCurry – with fresh Chilli,CoconutMilk,Tomato,Tumeric,Spices&Herbs
NyonyaChapChye – braised BeancurdSkin,BlackFungus,Cabbage,DriedLilyBuds, Mushroom,PorkBelly,PrawnsBroth&SoybeanPaste
Dessert:Chendol- local shaved-ice topped with CoconutMilk,PalmSugar,PandanJelly,RedBeans.
Took the skybridge across OrchardRd for Bus16 and thank goodness no traffic diversions yet. F1 practises&qualifying start Fri&Sat early evening and the Race is on Sunday evening – keeping away from anywhere near the event! The roar of engine, the smell of burnt rubber – that’s what Formula One is about for me.
Fri: areas to avoid if you do not want to be caught in crowds,noise,pollution,traffic,etc, over the 🏁F1🏁weekend – not a fan of this event but good for SIN businesses!

Dinner@PalmDr/sisJo with our contribution of curry&veggie dishes from the corner ZiCharStall~S$10+kuey~S$12 from BengawanSolo across the road – a nice stroll back to the 4walls before the rains.

Was not even aware that WestinHotel has moved until today – somehow the acoustics here was not quite for the piano! The last time in the Westin was when it was located by CityHallMRT!!
Had to share MarinaOne as I was quite impressed with it when here for Bday lunch last year – 2above pix downloaded.

Coffee&drink@TheSingapuraClub – for once music from the 1950s-70s could be recognized&related to and not blasting thru’ boombox, but in comfortable volume providing relaxing ambience with just us there(would not want to be here in any crowds). A pleasant&peaceful afternoon went by quickly – Jan2023

Sat2024: continued to Chinatown for the Mid-Autumn lights and for Durian-shaved-ice while the others had Chendo&Lychee@MeiHongYuen/ChinatownPt. Strolling along KeongSaikRd when this area was once upon a time a prominent red-light district with brothels located in the shophouses on either side of the street in the 1960s – now a trendy hip area with boutique cafes&eateries.
KokSen has relocated but on the same, and unable to locate father’s Thu club last night, or maybe the eyesight&memory are playing tricks but the temple is still there. 老花眼=OldFlowerEyes=Presbyopia also known as age-related farsightedness (or age-related long sight in the UK) prefer the Chinese expression when used at the appropriate time like now!
Oct2023: MondrianHotel with good view of Chinatown from their rooftop’s infinity pool(Level13) and nice suites(Level3) by the lush reflecting water – Oct2023.
Sat21Sep2024: evening drinks by the pool@MondrianHotel for a LycheeMartiniCocktail. Nice pleasant evening to end this long afternoon – good idea with water in cartons, espeically at the pool area. Was in daylight here last year and Claire&Stein were supposed to stay here in Jul but sadly&unfortunately had to cancel.
I’m not boozing, I’m just improving my cocktail balance – hahaha!
