1 Jan 2024 – Happy New Year

Fri: an old pix from 25yrs! ago when we visited SIN to celebrate my niece’s wedding and then I decided to stay on – the rest is history as they say! Just a reminder to myself how fast time has gone by. Jun2023 is what we really look like after 5children from 1stBorn and 1child from 2ndBorn making me a grandmother of 6. Seems like my grown-up children looks the same, but difficult to imagine that my 1stBorn is now the age I was in the old pix!!

5thDay of Christmas and the last 2023Fri. MeePok lunch with annual news of 2ndBro-branch from SiewKing@Eunos and since at the MRTstation, redeem S$50 travel voucher/PTV. Considering that its under S$1 for Seniors on the bus or MRT, S$50 gives me a few trips! Surprisingly no rains today not here on the EastSide, but not sure about the rest of the island? Lovely relaxing evening breeze, so tempting to hang a hammock outside by the main door to sleep – wonder if anyone will complain, hahaha.

Sat: annual pot-luck lunch with Ting,CH,Bev. Forgot to take pix of the all the foods, my contribution was a cheese,fruits,veggiePlatter,Ting&CH brought chicken&roast-pork and Bev made her yummy carrot-cake. Spent a lovely afternoon making merry and chewing the fat – as last year, the usual HorFun dinner@MTmarket to end evening.

Sun: early marketing day@GeylangSeraiFoodCentre to pick up Satay&Lotong, then back to MT for my favourite NasiLemak. Somehow the tastebud has change and the Sambal is too spicy for me nowdays. Halal lunch with Ayas,Calvin&Sam making it a wrap for 2023 – appreciations to each&everyone who have crossed my path for the year and thanks to all for good company,foods,drinks,etc over the weekend. Dishes,etc washed for the last time for this year. Not sure if the energy will be there in 2024 to be hosting anything – pix credits to Ayas.

Was hoping for an early night, no such luck as the entertainment and the count-down was directly downstairs from my block. First time this is happening here and good to hear&see ppl making merry to ring in 2024 with fireworks at full blast. Am a wimp as far as crowds are concerned, nice to be on the 7thFloor with the view and still hearing all the entertainment loud&clear. Such a brilliant idea to do this so that ppl from the heartland do not have to go into MBS-area where undoubtedly the crowds are far worse, especially when Covid cases are as high as they are here are at present.

Today was told by Betty, our head server who has been taking care of us since?? that the Grinch from past Christmas, too long a story, but the family knows who I am referring to. Anyway, the news is that he has passed on some years ago, so there shouldn’t be any more complains about ppl making merry for the season-hahaha!

So far your ppl have been very attentive to my request regarding this kind of issues, Today, what do I see on the staircase? Need to nip it at the bud again before more things keep piling up again. Would appreciate if you can take care of this. If this is not removed by the next charity collection notice, will post it for collection.

Met Susie&Bobby when 1stBorn was a UF-Freshman/1992 and today they still have the same address in GNV FL/USA, now grandparents but have not met up with them since 1992!!

Now that the eyesight is not as it was, would like to listen to some of his audiobooks, and to learn more. Physically will not be able to visit many of these places, but will try to objectively listen, read, watch, etc with an open mind, both postive&negative sides from ppl who sounds logical who make sense to me.

Fri: Welcome Dec – Tis the season again for the 1stDay for AdventCalendars and both the handmade(to be filled with 24InternationalThankYouNotes)and the IKEA PaperVillage(with 1piece of dark chocolate daily)are in their places within the 4walls. Will try my best to keep as many traditions possible as long as there still is energy&time!

ChocolateAdventCalendars are also in place for the younger generation – was eyeing one by LadyM, but at the cost of S$99! instead got 2packets of DarkLindtS$28.

Lunch@Funan and oh! the choices@BasementFoodCourt!! We here in SIN are thoroughly spoilt where the food choices&varieties are concerned. Somehow the appetite mood has been for fish&seafood the past week. Seafood has always been one of my favourites, especially when they are fresh and would even prefer some raw, but lately due to a weaker stomach/IBS, have kept to cooked seafoods despite of the good news that AbdominalCTscan being cleared today.

Always enjoy wandering around here checking out the eateries, once upon a time was my working place/9thFloor and now, the only location I know of with 2Sugarcane juice vending machines at different entrances. The line for YatKaYan 一家人 was curving around the corner even before it was opened! Ben&Jerry’s, one of the few places where they used to serve CoffeeCoffeeBuzzBuzzBuzz, my favourite flavour icecream is now replaced by  HaagenDazs.

Waterloo&BencoolenSts are where one can fine churches, mosque, temples, synagogue within a stone-throw from each other and like our choices, diversities and varieties of food, that also apply to cultures&religions which makes SIN so unique where there is so much to experience,learn and respect with our differences.

Crossed path with a person carrying her dog. At first sight thought it was a stuffed teddy bear, but stopped to ask for permission to take this pix and was told that the name of her real pet is Teddy/MiniturePomeranian who is 7yrs and allowed me to pet without trying to lick, sniff or jump at me – this is the kind of dog I do not mind being around!

Mon: limiting SnailMail2023Greets out to overseas mail this year. Postage has gone up and also festive rates no longer applies. HealthierSG@Bedok, and the line was crazy. This day turned to be a busy one as bro Steven was admitted@NUH A&E. Taking the MRT from Bedok/EastSide–KentRidge/WestSide and then back again to the EastSide of the island takes ~3hrs on the trains&feeder-buses. The last time here was Jun2019 for Lawrence.

Sun: delighted&proud to see both first-born/red and first grandchild#1/pink running the BGCM TurkeyDay 5k2023 in CAE,SC/USA – pix credits to Alex McDonald, made my day.

The diversity here at HDB/PublicHousing is amazing. Was on my way for freshly squeezed OJ/S$2@Block47 void-deck;s vending machine when by chance saw a note of apology regarding the noise of some religious prayers.

Festive drums&horns were blasting and ppl moving to the rhythm of the fire. Mon: a productive day@Bedok running errands and getting both dental& appt set up for this&next week – durians there look tempting,but too much to do and do not wish to the risk of stomach upset. Managed to get some Xmas shopping done@Giant&IKEA/Tampines and the floor in my 4walls are a total mess.

The free shuttle van from Bedok now only runs every hour and limited space and looks like it is only for IKEA, but Giant is only across the road and usually will be at both locations when heading there. Was hoping to get the individual wrapped GingerBreadCookies which were perfect greetings+gifts but no luck, instead saw this latest amazing display – will try again next week!

Tue: after reading these, will stay within my 4walls today and fast – looks like the wet season has brought out these creepy crawly, must find some SulphurSoap to wash outside my door&windows. Thu: where has all the time go, only 1month left to 2023. Last dental cleaning was Dec2021 and being away, missed this Jul appt. Thu: Happy Thanksgiving to those marking&celebrating today, looks like the family in US are getting ready for their meal. Last time preparing a Thanksgiving dinner was 2012.

Amazing that Sam manages to fit her riding school into her condo a riding school where one can even ride on a mechanical simulated horse, Totilas, to experience the feeling before actually riding the real animal. It is a good idea, especially for those who are apprehensive. This way one can try to feel and see if one is comfortable so as not get nervous being on the real animal.

Horses are very instinctive&sensitive, they immediately sense if the rider is nervous or not in control. Never knew that the Stirrups are the frame or ring that holds the foot of a rider, attached to the saddle by a strap. Will certainly think about horses if ever in for any medical check-ups where Stirrups are involved – hahaha.
