13 Aug 2024 – Kitefoiling

Sat: Kitefoiler Maximilian Maeder has put Singapore on the map by clinching a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.  https://str.sg/cvYi

Nice to wake up seeing SIN on the OlympicMedalTable – never too late even with only a few more days left to the 2024Olympics. France being 6hrs behind SIN, did not read the news until this morning – Maximilian Maeder clinched bronze in the men’s final kitefoiling. Congratulations how appropriate of him to put SIN on the OlympicPodium on our NationalDay First, do not even know what kitefoiling is nor that it is an Olympic event but will find out – all kitefoiling pix downloaded.

It is style of kitesurfing or kiteboarding and occurs when the board lifts above the water on the foil. This allows the kiter to ride with much higher efficiency than if the board were touching the water surface. Kitefoilers can reach speeds of over 70kmh.

Tea&dessert@TuxedoCafé&Pâtisserie/CityCarltonHotel – do remember passing by this hotel when it was newly opened in 2013 but it’s the first time inside here today.

A cozy wet afternoon with these young ppl – Daisy sharing her recent Switzerland experience and Clement’s Japan trip. The pot of peppermint-tea hit the spot for me with a bite taste of decent CremeBrulee&Tiramisu  – pleasant&serene afternoon listening&living vicariously thru’ them but content&happy not to be traveling for the moment.

Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind – Anthony Bourdain

Sun: so proud of #3JohnW HALL now an Eagle Scout – pix credits to Linn. It sounded like a pretty extensive interview when explained to me during US-May/Jun trip but had no doubt that he will make it despite me having to return to SIN when the results are out. Congratulations and sorry for not being with my US-flock for this milestone.

Drama from neighbour  –  relatives got the police+the locksmith to get in, looked like she fell, thank goodness still conscious and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. Have not heard or seen her yesterday or today and was planning to make a police report tomorrow morning on my way to the market.

Tue: as it is, very careful with all my steps when on my foot and now at this stage even more careful before sunrise solo walks especially after the traumatic incident last night! Walking alone with awareness of the depths of inner peace&strength and the profound beauty of simplicity.
