28 Apr 2008 – Royal Ontario Museum ROM
Mon- wind chills and the cold temperatures brought winter back today. Decided to take the street car and subway to ROM Royal Ontario Museum here, not to be confused with ROM in SIN Registry of Marriage there! Even the subway station is unique. The design of the museum has a thoroughly modern glass entrance backed by an Italianate Neo-Romanesque architecture, most unusual. Enjoyed the Glass Paper-weighs section and the Black Star Sapphire from Queensland, Australia. Could only afford a piece of magnificent teal coloured rock at the museum shop!
Yorkville is the upscale district with condos prices starting from 1million +++ and the usual brand name shopping grounds for the rich. The back to back new & old buildings add to an interesting contrast eg. Church of the Redeemer/Renaissance Plaza. Managed to find a small size aluminum flask in this kitchen store at an affordable price. Have been eyeing one of these for a while and saw some in SIN for a much higher price. With all this traveling, it will come in useful.

ROM ???
ROM also stands for The Registry of Marriages in Singapore , somewhere Amy should avoid with as much effort as she put into the Appalachian Trail . LOL !
The Registry of Marriages (abbreviated to ROM) is a government agency in Singapore that administers all marriages carried out in the Lion city and solemnizes civil marriages.[1] The Registry keeps a record of all couples married in Singapore and issues the official marriage certificate after solemnisation. Part of the mission of ROM is to administer the Women Charter Act in civil marriages. ROM is an agency of the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.

Marriage records in Singapore date back to the year 1875. On 15 September 1961 Civil Marriages came into force under legislation. The Registry was formed at the same time.[1]
ROM was originally located in Fort Canning Park, opposite Park Mall Shopping Centre, but in 1983 it moved to its current premises at Canning Rise.

Just a random passerby here. 🙂 I read your interview in SHAPE magazine (May issue) and I just wish to tell you that you are very inspiring! I sure hope that I would have the energy and passion to continue to stay active for the years to come!
Also, I was hoping that I could join you for the sunset-to-sundown trek in Singapore, if you plan to open it to the public! 🙂
